Forum: movies Subject: Auto generation of streaming content / parameters for making .rm files?

The instructions give an example about uploading to a directory:

"If your directory is named movie1, make sure the files are called movie1.mpg, movie1.asf, or movie1_256kb.mov".

Since these files are different formats of the same movie, this implies to me that the person submitting the movie must submit all formats that are wished to be available for download. Is this correct or are some formats (such as streaming .rm) automatically generated from a submitted file?

If no auto generation of .rm files is done, what are the recommended parameters (screen size, connection speeds) for generating .rm files to be contributed?

Oops, I see this was partially answered before when I asked a related question.

So it's best to submit using mpeg2 and then, as it says in that thread, streaming mpeg4 and vcd *can* be made. Do I have to do anything special to make sure the streaming mpeg4 version *is* made? Also, are there recommendations about parameters for generating .rm files?

Yes, you should post requesting that the alternate formats be made, because, as of yet, the process isn't automated. I'm happy to do it manually though.

We no longer make RM files.
